DeWayne Wise Catch Saves Mark Buehrle’s Perfect Game – Video and Screenshots

UPDATE: Video of DeWayne Wise’s catch that saved Mark Buehrle’s perfect game is below.

In due time, there will be videos online of the best catch I’ve ever seen given the circumstances.

In the interim, here are 3 low resolution screenshots from my slingbox.

P.S.  If our building didn’t require that we have DSL at work, these would be a lot clearer.  I love the slingbox!

Beastie Boys Cancel Lollapalooza Show – MCA (Adam Yauch) Has Cancer

Thank god there’s finally something to talk about again.

Unfortunately, there’s officially no other reason to attend Lollapalooza 2009.

http://www3.timeoutny.com/chicago/blog/out-and-about/2009/07/beastie-boys-cancel-lollapalooza-date-mca-announces-he-has-cancer/

Get well soon MCA…

Time Out, thank you.

P.S. Ok, I would pay money to see Of Montreal and Ben Folds. Worth noting: I’m a Snoop Dogg fan but I’ve seen him solo and it’s a nightmare. The Up in Smoke Tour – when he wasn’t solo – was unbelieveable. Regardless, compared to the 2008 lineup, this year’s show is DEPRESSING.

The Cost of All the Apps in the App Store?

For no real reason, I rarely open emails from QuickPWN.  But, this one caught my attention.

The total cost – as of July 2009 – to own all 55,732 apps currently listed in the App Store is $144,326.06 with the average cost being $3.34 for a paid app if you exclude the 12,538 free apps.  I think I’ve spent half that much that I might as well just go for all of them.  Ugh.

Here’s more – including a pricing trend graph.  Enjoy…

The GOP Continues to Make Mistakes

steele-dog

So, the GOP is attacking Obama on the jobs number as seen here and here – which, nobody expected to improve in June.  But, it looks like the bleeding has stopped at 9.5%.   We’ll see – maybe it climbs slightly higher next month.

Regardless, some jobs from the recovery act have been created and many more to come over the next few months – as seen in the following BccList.com blog posting…

https://bcclist.com/2009/06/06/fox-news-fail/

Moreover, the $787 billion from the recovery act is just starting to “trickle-down”…

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31548130/ns/business-personal_finance/

So, as I mentioned back in February, the GOP needs to start rallying behind the President or be completely stuck out in the cold when the tide turns.  Should the tide not turn, we’ll be taking a hard look at the damage done 2000-2008.

All of this said, the GOP literally has one of two options – support the agenda and come up with some sort of new ideas on the future of America OR look like fools and destroy their party more.  They are falling right into the administration’s and democratic party’s trap.

Side Note: If you watched Meet the Press last week, you saw Romney and Graham (sort of) support the stimulus plan/recovery act.  Those two have (sort of) moved in the right direction.

Man Calls 911 Admits Marijuana Usage and Requests Helicopter to Lil Wayne Concert

When I think about Michael Kruse (see link below), I think of Bill Murray in the movie Stripes…

“Lee Harvey, you are a madman. When you stole that cow, and your friend tried to make it with the cow. I want to party with you, cowboy. If the two of us together, forget it.”

http://www.wtsp.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=108650

911 Call on June 21st:

Kruse’s speech was slurred and the dispatcher had difficulty understanding him.

Dispatch: “Are you sure you haven’t taken something sir? Because you’re not making a whole lot of sense.”

Caller: “I’ve been smoking marijuana.”

Dispatch: “You’ve been smoking marijuana?”

Caller: “Yes.”

Dispatch: “Do you want a deputy to come and take you to jail?”

Caller: “Why?”

Dispatch: “You just told me on a taped line you just got done smoking marijuana.”

Caller: “Awww. Are you serious?”

911 Call on June 22nd:

Dispatch: “You want a police escort to take you to Miami?”

Caller: “Or, you have a helicopter?”

Dispatch: “We don’t just send helicopters up for rappers.”

Caller: “Well, I’m driving there right now. I just wanted the fastest way to get there. I didn’t want to get pulled over on the highway.”

Burchie, thank you.

Palin Confident She Can Outrun Obama

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/07/01/palin-confident-she-can-outrun-obama-2/

This would normally be a tweet – but, I haven’t posted anything to the blog in awhile.  Why?  Because there is NOTHING interesting going on in the world today.  Anyways, without further ado – here’s my blog post…

Sarah, the Presidential Physical Fitness Award means nothing…

Reason(s) I Love Bing.com – Bing Cashback (and I guess Bing Mobile)

This blog posting only took 2-3 days to put together – awesome.

If you follow me on Twitter, I’ve been weird about my love affair of Bing Shopping – specifically, Bing Cashback.

Bing.com as a search engine is ok. It could be perfect. As is, it’s general search is obnoxious but almost a Google “Killer.” There are 2 things that Bing.com is currently good for…

1) The mobile interface (image) on an iPhone is acceptable.

2) More importantly, Bing Shopping is amazing.

To use Bing Shopping, go to www.bing.com and click Shopping on the left hand panel – or, use the Bing Shopping link above. I know, I know – the layout of Bing Shopping is a little stupid.

Regardless, the following is 1 of my 4 success stories of shopping via Bing and receiving Bing Cashback…

I went to the North Face store on Michigan Ave to have my winter coat shipped off for repair. While in the store, I found a shirt I liked – The North Face Airborne. I bought one for $30 plus $3.08 taxes – total $33.08. I – of course – immediately went home and searched Bing Shopping for North Face Airborne and sorted by only those stores that use Bing Cashback – left hand side of the search results. Here are the results for the North Face Airborne shirt.

There are several places offering Bing Cashback for the North Face Airborne shirt as seen here. Even though not the cheapest after Bing Casback discount, I decided to buy from Backcountry.com because they offered the best selection of colors/sizes. Moreover, Backcountry.com offers free shipping on orders over $50 and no sales tax.

So, I ended up paying $26.27 per shirt after Bing Cashback – saving $6.81 if I purchased the shirts on Michigan Ave. The savings for these shirts isn’t a lot – $6.81 per shirt X 3 shirts = $20.43. But, any amount of money adds up – like the $25+~ish I saved buying a new pair of New Balance 993s (black) through OnlineShoes.com using Bing Shopping with Bing Cashback.

My point – Bing Mobile and Bing Shopping with Bing Cashback has a chance to “kill” Google. Now, Microsoft’s objective should make the Bing.com regular search not so obnoxious/cluttered/weird looking.

Click on the image below a few times to see the Bing Cashback email – easily my favorite non work related email received lately – for the aforementioned shirts…

P.S. Maybe there’s another website out there that offers 10+% off when you purchase shiat from other legit online stores. If I’m missing the boat, let me know.

Alexi Giannoulias Grassroots Campaign – Joke?

Alexi Giannoulias – one of the wealthiest/shadiest people in Chicago (bold statement, I know) – sent out an email today to his supporters regarding a recently launched grassroots campaign for his Senate bid.  See screenshot of email below.

What’s next – Louis Vuitton begging Street Performers to camp out  in front of their Magnificent Mile storefront?

The last person in the world that should put together a grassroots political campaign is Alexi Giannoulias.  Ok, Donald Trump is the last person.  Ok, there are a few other people that shouldn’t put together a grassroots campaign. Regardless, somebody advising Alexi needs to…

a) be fired for suggesting/approving/launching such a campaign.  Alexi isn’t dumb enough to come up with this idea on his own.

b) let him know there isn’t a single “common person” compassionate enough to support a corrupt politician in a grassroots like manner. He should stick to what works – deep pocket supporters.

But, with an unlimited amount of money on hand, Alexi can make mistakes like launching this (confusing) campaign.

Side note: Please dear god let Lisa Madigan run for Senator and not Governor since Illinois doesn’t need another Senate episode like Burris/Blago.  Giannoulias will eventually be (more) exposed.   If she decides to run for Governor, please dear god let Alexi be (more) exposed before the Democratic Senate primary wraps up.  If not, the gop (they still exist, right?) will actually challenge for the seat because of blago, burris, and the dirt they’ll throw towards Giannoulias.

Read up…

“The NY Post story references the many questions about Giannoulias’ ties to organized crime through Broadway Bank, a Chicago bank that his family owns and where Alexi Giannoulias listed himself both as President and as Chairman of the Board on FEC filings surrounding the campaign contributions mentioned above. According to a Chicago Tribune article from 2006, Giannoulias “has faced questions about the bank’s multi-million dollar loans to Michael Gioranago, a convicted bookmaker and prostitution ring promoter.” Barack Obama was quoted in the article as saying that he “is concerned by revelations that the bank owned by Illinois Democratic treasurer nominee Alexi Giannoulias’ family gave loans to a Chicago crime figure and said the candidate owes him and the public a full accounting.” And while Giannoulias claimed that the loans to Gioranago were made “before he became a full-time bank employee”, “newly discovered public records show Broadway Bank made $11.8 million in additional mortgage loans to Giorango just last year. Giannoulias said he oversaw the servicing of those loans.” Giannoulias also appears to have lied about the bank’s financing of a casino boat marina. And in what may or may not be an ugly coincidence, convicted felon Tony Rezko racked up $450,000 in gambling debts by writing bad checks on his Broadway Bank account. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, “Obama kept his 2004 Senate campaign funds” at Broadway Bank as well.”

WGN Reporter (Pat Tomasulo) Dunks on Kid

”I feel like the lowest person on the planet right now.  Anyway, the Cubs scored.  Actually, I feel really good.  That felt so powerful.”

Pat, no it didn’t.  I’ve unfortunately seen this dude’s shtick before. He tries to be really funny.  He’s not.

Note to Pat Tomasulo: Kids don’t understand “humor” – e.g. taunting them as they’re trying to cover you, dunking on them, and then taunting them once more after the damage as been done.

Ries, thank you.

P.S.  I think Pat was carrying the ball at the top of the clip.  Turnover.
