Review: Burger King (BK) Fire Grilled Ribs

I’m a foodie.  I’m a blogger.  I don’t blog about fast food.  I’ll make this short.

Going back to my first job out of college when we actually called the local McDonald’s to confirm their McRib actually included pork – former coworker/buddy is Muslim – I’ve been obsessed with all things fast food rib related.  So, it was only natural that I document my “experience” with BK’s new Fire Grilled Ribs.

Ordering:

No, I’d never order something off a fast food menu by it’s full name but figured it was worth correcting myself since I was recording me ordering ACTUAL ribs from a fast food restaurant for god’s sake.  Yada, yada, yada – point is, it’s pretty tough saying “BK Fire Grilled Ribs” instead of just “ribs.”

Presentation:

The “combo” comes with a drink. Worst combo ever.  The cost was $4.23 and all that was received was 3 ribs and a medium coke.  3 ribs aren’t enough to fill my 6 year old niece and/or nephew.

Taste and Review:

The ribs tasted…wait for it…great!  Seriously, even without dipping them into the sauce – which I recommend – I’m a huge fan.  Will I ever order them again?  Absolutely not!  Why?

1) Ribs should never be consumed fast in a seedy restaurant. That’s like mixing oil with water.  It’s like praying to god in a gross airplane bathroom instead of at St. Patrick’s cathedral.  I could make up more analogies that make me chuckle and confuse everybody else…but, I digress.

2) Cost.  It’s not that I mind spending money on ribs, but, I mind spending more than $8 at a fast food restaurant for a main food item (ribs, burger, chicken, etc.), fries, and a drink.

Recommendation:

Go get your order of BK Fire Grilled Ribs today…after you refi your house.

Amir Khan vs. Paulie Malignaggi‎ Preview and Prediction

Note: I haven’t read any other previews.  Here is the beginning of their weak a$$ fight during the weigh in.  Watch part 2 here to see a little more of two tiny men pushing each other around.

Preview:

Amir Khan has a glass jaw as seen here.  Has Freddie Roach taught him to keep his hands up?  It doesn’t matter, Paulie Malignaggi couldn’t knock out a flea.

But, Paulie has fought 2 of the best fighters boxing has to offer – Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto – down to the wire.  He went 12 rounds with Cotto and the last 2 of those rounds with a BROKEN JAW as seen here.  The decision wasn’t in Paulie’s favor, but, he’s got the heart of a champion and doesn’t know when to quit.  Speaking of quitting, I’m not sure Paulie could have beaten Hatton had his corner not called the fight as seen here.  Though Malignaggi‎’s punches in round 10 were meaningless, I don’t know how your corner can throw in the towel when you’re dancing circles around your competetor.

Known:

Amir Khan isn’t nearly as good as Cotto or Hatton.  Paulie can’t knock anyone out.  Khan has a glass jaw but is trained by Freddie Roach. Paulie Malignaggi has 3 losses and a 4th retires him – I’m not sure he’s ready to hang them up yet.

Prediction:

Paulie Malignaggi wins by unanimous decision after a fight that goes 12 rounds.

How does the above compare to what other mainstream boxing sites are saying?

Video: Police Officer Shoots Unarmed Man – a Biker

Hard to tell if the cop was in the wrong, right?

You know a video is going to be good when the newscaster says something to the effect of, “As a warning, the footage you’re about to see is considered disturbing.”

What happened to his buddy?  It looked like he went up some sort of embankment and then either his Harley (or his Harley and he) landed that jump.

21 Foot Rule – Knife VIDEO

SCRIPT (to the best of my knowledge/understanding):

“Trying to make you gun guys aware about what the capabilities are of the knife. You move too slow and you count too much on that one shot taking him down and…ummmm…you gotta move.”

“This is 21 feet.  Set-up and ready to go!”

“Hiding behind a tree somewhere and I see somebody coming down the trail and I go – haaa! – that’s my enemy.”

“Alright, this is a relatively small knife.  It’s the cold steel spartan….Just hanging out.”
